Unlike other seed oils, Melilanda Extra Virgin Olive Oil contains high levels of Monounsaturated fats (MUFA) which are a healthy fat because they do not increase total cholesterol levels. Monounsaturated fats have also shown to lower bad LDL cholesterol while maintaining, and sometimes improving, the level of good HDL cholesterol.
Melilanda Extra Virgin Olive Oil is Cold Pressed which means no heating is applied during the extraction stage. Heating changes the chemical structure of oil causing polyunsaturates to increase and monounsaturates to decrease.
Melilanda Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced from the First Press. This means the olive pulp (waste) is not transferred back into the machine for a second extraction or refined using some other process, ensuring a pure, high quality oil.
Melilanda Extra Virgin Olive Oil is tested annually by an I.O.O.C. (International Olive Oil Council) accredited laboratory.
